Who we are

We’re The TILT Project—The Texas Initiative for Labor & Transformation. We’re a political and policy engine rooted in Houston, led by people who know what it’s like to work jobs that break you and live in neighborhoods the city forgets.

We’re here to build political pressure for the people who cook your food, clean your buildings, and are left out of every labor protection in professionalized industries and every city budget conversation.

We bring lived experience in the service industry and in policy work.
We push for policy that no longer incentivizes exploitative practices.
We’re building pressure to tilt protections back in favor of fair work for restaurant workers and real investment in our communities.

We believe labor justice in the restaurant and hospitality industry are paramount to a dignified life for those that sustain the industry, and vital for true sustainability models within the industry, benefiting workers to patrons alike. We fight for transparency, enforcement, dignity, and public investment where it’s been denied.

Led by Policy Director Sophia Campos,
The TILT Project isn’t just calling for change. We’re the ones on the line. The ones holding the line. The ones crushed by the line.
And we’re drawing the line.
